June brings the return our own New Ivy Chamber Ensemble . Please join us for a memorable afternoon of chamber music at the historic Jose Mojica Hacienda in Santa Monica Canyon.
When: Saturday, June 18th, 3:30PM
Where: La Senora Research Institute
565 Dryad Road
Santa Monica, CA 90402
This Ensemble was formed in 2007 to perform in La Senora’s Mojica Hacienda. Each year we have been delighted with the execution of the selected works and the opportunities the music has given us toprovide little known glimpses into the lives of the composers and their times.
After the rave reviews received by last year’s guest soloist, we are delighted to announce that she will return for an encore performance on June 18th. Berenika, is a pianist lauded by reviewers for bringing passion and phenomenal technique to the works she performs. She has been performing since age 3; by age 9 Berenika soloed with the Sault Orchestra and by age 13 she was at Julliard (after which she graduated magna cum laude from Harvard, went on to Oxford and then the Royal Academy of Music in London before focusing on her career as a concert artist).
Her credits include being the Leonard Bernstein Fellow at Tanglewood and the New Horizon’s Fellow at the Aspen Music Festival. When Phillip Glass received the Fulbright Lifetime Achievement Award in the Mellon Auditorium in Washington, DC, Berenika was chosen to play”Philip Glass” for Phillip Glass.
Berenika’s performances have been on NPR Bravo!, CBC, CityTV, YTV, MDR Germany, WCQS, BBC, WQXR NY & Classic FM London. She’s soloed
with the Pittsburgh, Asheville, Toronto and Boston Symphonies, the New York Symphonic Ensemble , the Aspen Sinfonia and has appeared at the Allen Room, Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Wigmore Hall, London and
at the City of London Festival.
The legacy of La Senora’s Hacienda is always a celebration of the link forged between its builder, Mexican opera star Jose Mojica and the European and Latin composers whose works he sang in the acoustically perfect Music Salon he built to showcase his own talent.. One of the original Edison Three Tenors ,Jose Mojica sang his way into Hollywood starring roles in fourteen 1930s Fox Films.
