The Twilight dance series finale will present Patti Smith and her band at the santa monica pier on september 3,2009. This is the second time in the last three years that the godmother of punk, will be perfoming with her band at the pier. The 62 years old,legendary artist, writer and musician was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007, while in 2005 she was named a Commander of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Minister of Culture. Smith is most widely known for her song “Because the Night” which she collaborated with Bruce Springsteen.The song became the biggest pop hit, reaching number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1978, making it a standard for the lilith fair generation. 

About the Santa Monica Pier Twilight Dance Series: The concerts are free and run every Thursday (last September 3,2009) from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. at the Santa Monica Pier parking lot (on the pier).  If you are planning to stay through the entire event, it is advised to come early so that you can park your chair at a great spot on the pier or down on the beach. Bring a light blanket, grab something to eat and enjoy the beautiful evening.
